Everyone has a story. . .
If you were to travel the roads of my life, you would find yourself in many different directions. Some lead you to the most amazing places you could ever see, several shortcuts with dead ends, and a few with wrong and illegal turns. But the most important ones have led me to where I am today. Getting here has been the most challenging and roughest road I have traveled.
I've been cooking since I was 9 years old, but the passion led me to find work in the pit of a restaurant and eventually in the kitchen. The long hours and the little time off was what hit the hardest to my loved ones. I hardly ever had time to see or spend quality time with them. When I finally left the industry, I felt guilty for taking something home with me besides my love for the kitchen. I struggled for a few years with alcohol. Those were the darkest years of my life (literally from all the times I was passed out!). But the road to recovery has brought me here today. A little R&R and some self-care got me a clear vision of my life's purpose. Being the best version of myself, a better father, and a better husband.
From all my life's journeys and falls, I am here today, bringing you something I like to call “Rustic Mexican-American Seasonings.” The Rustic Mexican part comes from learning old-fashioned Mexican recipes from “De Rancho,” or the countryside in Mexico where my family comes from. And, of course, I was born and raised here in Cali. So, I have put together a mix of recipes and spices that were passed down to me; I decided to bring them together with American-style BBQ herbs and spices. I am giving you my take on backyard BBQ seasonings, a “Carne Asada”!
